DON’T MISS IT! DINNER AND A SHOW IN MADISON!

Although we’re not hosting a Convention this year, that no reason to pass on a trip to Madison! Saturday, August 24th promises to be a fun-filled day and evening, with the Wisconsin Pottery Association Show & Sale during the daytime, and an Informal Dinner for all CAS Collectors that night!

First things first: the WPA Show, a longtime favorite with all those who collect and appreciate ceramic and pottery items, will be held from 9 am-3 pm at the Alliant Energy Center. In addition to a multitude of dealers, there’ll also again be experts on hand to offer their assistance in identifying “mystery pottery” (check out the WPA website, wisconsinpottery.org, for full details). Plus, representatives of CAS Collectors will once more be staffing an info table, so be sure to stop by and say “hi!” Admission to the WPA Show is just $5, and parking is free. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!

And. . .the evening of the 24th, you’ll have an opportunity to meet up with all your CAS Collectors friends, even without an official Convention! All CAS-ers are invited to attend an Informal Dinner, at that mainstay of long-lived Madison-area supper clubs, Kavanaugh’s Esquire Club! Located at 1025 N. Sherman Avenue in Madison, Kavanaugh’s carries on the tasty tradition of what supper clubs of the 1940s and ‘50s were like. The food is delicious, the prices reasonable, and the atmosphere filled with memories. You can almost imagine Betty, Reuben, and their other CAS cohorts stopping by for a refreshing meal (or beverage) at Kavanaugh’s, after putting in a hard day at the Studio!

As mentioned, this is an Informal Dinner. Unlike our Conventions, there is no registration fee, and each attendee will pay for his or her own meal that evening. Kavanaugh’s full menu will be available and, if attendance warrants, we will be located in a private party room. And, even though it’s not an official “Convention” there will be several Convention-related activities during the evening. We’ll hold our annual Membership Meeting, PLUS Board member Anita Guzik-Miller has come up with a wonderful CAS-themed Door Prize that will be awarded to one lucky attendee! Check out the photo on the cover of this issue. We know you’ll agree that the chance of perhaps winning this beauty is more than enough reason to attend, even if the only thing you order that evening is a “brandy old fashioned sweet!” The evening will get underway at 6:30 pm.

Sound like fun? Well, of course it does! And even though there’s no pre-registration, we do need to know how many members plan on attending, so we can arrange for the right space at Kavanaugh’s. That’s why we’re asking you to send a “Yes, I will attend the dinner” email to President Hank Kuhlmann ASAP!

(If you’ve responded already, we have that on file. Thank you!)

Dinner and a show in Madison? What could be better! We look forward to seeing all our CAS Collectors friends as our club celebrates 30 years, and remember. . .
